Professional Certification

The Cleveland Wine School offers two professional certification programs; the WSET Intermediate and Advanced Certificate and The Certified Wine Specialist award from offered through the Society of Wine Educators.

The Certified Wine Specialist is an award given to candidates who successfully pass a 100 question multiple choice exam written by the Society of Wine Educators. Completion of the program requires the candidate to master the fundamentals of wine required to work within the industry.

Cleveland Wine School is Ohio's only Approved Programme Provider for the London-based Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) curriculum.

This certified testing program provides standardized, high-quality wine and spirit education around the world. Cleveland Wine School offers two courses of the WSET:

Intermediate Certificate

This entry level course provides the product knowledge needed to work in the wine and spirits hospitality, retail and wholesale industries. It's also perfect for non-professional wine enthusiasts who wish to acquire in-depth knowledge while obtaining an internationally recognized qualification.

Advanced Certificate

This program of study will assist those who are required to make professional evaluations of wine and spirits with regard to their quality and commercial value. The program provides in depth product knowledge for selection in the retail and hospitality sectors.
Suggested preparation: Intermediate Certificate or a good foundation of wine knowledge.
