Professional Education Programs



The Cleveland Wine School offers two professional education programs; the WSET Intermediate and Advanced Certificate and The Certified Wine Specialist award from offered through the Society of Wine Educators.

The Certified Wine Specialist is an award given to candidates who successfully pass a 100 question multiple choice exam written by the Society of Wine Educators. Completion of the program requires the candidate to master the fundamentals of wine.

This certified testing program provides standardized, high-quality wine and spirit education around the world. Cleveland Wine School offers two courses of the WSET:





Foundation Course


This entry level course provides basic information on basic grape varieties, introduction to wine tasting, food and wine pairing as well as basic service knowledge. Perfect for people new to the world of wine, this one day course results in a WSET Foundation Certificate and is a great starting point for most novice consumers.



Intermediate Course


This course provides basic information on the wines regions of the world. From labeling laws to climate, soil and grape varieties, the Intermediate Course is the best route to broaden your product knowledge. It's also perfect for non-professional wine enthusiasts who wish to acquire in-depth knowledge while obtaining a WSET Certificate.

Advanced Course


This program of study takes the wines of the world to the next level including professional evaluations of wine and spirits with regard to their quality and commercial value. The program provides in depth product knowledge for both professionals and wine enthusiasts alike interested in obtaining the WSET Advance Certificate.
