The American Wine School began as the Cleveland Wine School and still maintains its headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio on Cleveland’s east side. We offer the widest selection of classes at this location. Whether you know a little or a lot about wine, the American Wine School offers a systematic approach that can help you build your wine knowledge. The Introductory classes begin with the basics: how to taste wine and identify flavors. Classes continue grape-by-grape, country-by-country to give tasters a well-rounded knowledge of wine. The Fundamental Series includes:

NEW CLASSES SUMMER 2011:
FOOD & WINE PAIRING
Join the American Wine School and Chef Adam Wilson of The Viking Store for an evening of education, food and wine. The evening will begin with a glass of bubbles followed by a tasting of six wines paired with three dishes designed to illustrate the basic principles of food and wine pairing. Reservations are required. Space is limited. Class location: The Viking Store at Legacy Village, Lyndhurst, Ohio. Class date: June 24, 2011 at 6pm. $60 per person. SPANISH WINES & TAPAS
Discover the sunny flavors of Spain during this two hour tasting. The evening includes a welcome glass of Cava followed by a tasting of six wines paired with various Tapas. Learn about the tradition, culture, and history that make the wines of Spain so unique as well as the trendy bits we know now as Tapas. Reservations are required. Space is limited. Founded in 1969, WSET is the leading wine certification program in the world providing standardized, high-quality wine and spirit education. WSET Foundation Certificate – Cleveland
This entry-level course provides basic information on basic grape varieties, introduction to wine tasting, food and wine pairing as well as basic service knowledge. Perfect for people new to the world of wine, this is a great starting point for most novice consumers. The course is offered three times during the year:

WSET Intermediate Certificate – Cleveland
This course provides basic information on the wines regions of the world. From labeling laws to climate, soil and grape varieties, the Intermediate Course is the best route to broaden your product knowledge. WSET Advanced Certificate – Cleveland
This course is recommended for those who have earned the Intermediate Certificate, or have a good foundation of wine knowledge. In depth lectures and discussions covering wines and spirits of the world are designed to give a thorough understanding of the principal wines and spirits of the world and their commercial importance.
